The village is located at the foot of Piz Mundaun.
Surcuolm is, along with Flond, the only Romansh faction within the municipality Obersaxen Mundaun. The village is located at the foot of Piz Mundaun and offers a wonderful view towards the Brigels mountain ranges.
At the centrally Postplatz, you will find the post office with the information office, as well as the old schoolhouse with a small sports complex. Above the square, the Catholic Church is perched on a hill.
In winter, the sports field turns into a synthetic ice rink.
Right next to the sports field, you will discover a small, old bakery. The farmers still traditionally bake bread in a wood-fired oven. The fresh produce can then be purchased at one of the markets in Surcuolm.
From the village, you can ski down to the Valata valley station and take the chairlift to Cuolm Sura. In Valata, there are several parking spaces available and the ski school office is also located in this place.
